Reviews:
Jumbo Records - Leeds:
"The 8 tracks on this gem of a release on the White Label Music imprint are a lush, beautiful, harmony laden yet experimental affair. This is just the kind of independent release we love receiving here at Jumbo. Lots of hidden depths but really memorable too. It brings to mind the Shins and a touch of toy-town psych too..."
Culture Deluxe Magazine:
"Myheadisaballoon‘s Treefella EP haunts the narco-acoustic ambient territories of the ethereal landscape. He is a purveyor of fine psych-pop and sunshine harmonies that are at once wistful and uplifting, continuing as they do, to perpetuate the liminal gene pool already pioneered by acts from The Millennium to The High Llamas, but also at times reminiscent of Buffalo Springfield’s more esoteric experiments in sixties pop. It would be wrong to single out any singular track as the EP is constructed and sequenced in a way in which it has a seductive and highly cohesive feel throughout... anybody with an ear for any of the aforementioned artists will be thrilled with the care and authenticity with which these songs are perfectly executed."

Press Release:
There’s a playful, psychedelic feel to the Treefella EP, from the echoes of pastoral folk in the instrumental track Bwlb, to the acoustic Syd Barrett tinged electronica of Laughter Track.
The title track Treefella drifts evocatively between The Beta Band and the Pacific Ocean Blue of Dennis Wilson, moving on through to the Cluster-like Save Me From My-Self-Ish Heart, returning to the almost West Coast style for the songs Staring@Concrete and the waking dream that is Bookshelf Blues.
Weeks is producing fresh, alternative Lo-Fi pop gems here. Harmonious vocals slipstream beautiful electro-acoustic instrumentation, creating a new psychedelia, which is steeped in electronica and the hazy days of summer.
We at White Label Music deemed it fit to coin the genre 'Black Pop' to describe the music of Myheadisaballoon, as while Chris creates charming, bright & melodic pop-infused music, there's a definite melancholy and dark timbre to both the lyrics and overarching style.
